The
South African Network of Animal Traction (SANAT) is a ‘Networking
Organization’ linking all those working with or interested in
draught animal power with government officials, academics,
researchers, farmers and NGO’s.
In particular, it represents the interests of small farmers who use draught animal power in South Africa.
The School of Agriculture and Agri-business, in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture at Fort Hare University is one of the homes of Agricultural Traction and Power Studies in South Africa.
The
South African Network of Animal Traction (SANAT), the Traction
Centre (TC) and the Animal Traction Centre (ATC) are all based at
the University.
Training, research and development in draught animal power are conducted at this institution and the information gained is spread by SANAT through the Networking linkages that it has in Southern and Eastern Africa.
